Feng Shui Near a Cemetery

Nov 1, 2020

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” ~H P Lovecraft

Fear of the Unknown

Halloween, Samhain and Día de Muertos or All Souls Day are are few festive celebrations thrown in Western culture around this time of year. Whether you believe in ghosts, participate in any of these Western festivities or put it all off as superstition — sometimes there is still a lingering curiosity or fear of the unknown.  Everyone manifests the emotion of fear in different ways.  Fear can invite ghosts and entities into your home or other frequented places.  This typically occurs when these places are near cemeteries or burial grounds that have a greater impact on the Feng Shui of the surrounding areas.

Supernatural and Shamanism

Belief in the supernatural is often derived from Shamanic practices and lineages throughout the world.  BTB or Black Sect Tantric Buddhism Feng Shui is a Shamanic lineage that dates back thousands of years from the ancient Bon Tibetan Buddhist religion.  In BTB Feng Shui, there are different types of spirits that can manifest in spaces and on properties, ghosts and entities.

    Ghosts

    • A soul that previously was incarnate or alive and is now stuck
    • People and animals
    • Often negative Chi

    Entities

    • Not always previously incarnate or alive
    • Angels, Ancestors, Spirit Guides, Nagas or Nature Spirits
    • Often positive Chi

    Cemetery Adjacent Places

If you live in or frequent a space that is near a cemetery, it is not always a bad thing.  Many cemeteries are peaceful places but they all still have Sha Chi or draining energy associated with them.  This can create an out of balance yin over yang energy around and in spaces.

    Considerations of the Cemetery

The way the cemetery or burial ground looks and feels can determine how large of an impact the Chi will have on the surrounding properties.  A few things to consider:

    • Size of the cemetery
      • A large cemetery can create more draining energy.
    • The landscaping
      • A well groomed landscape will raise the Yang Chi to help counter balance the heavy Yin Chi.
    • Frequently Visited and Monitored.
      • If a cemetery is visited often by mourners and visitors, this is a ritual should be honored.
      • Greater concern comes when a cemetery does not have security at all, enticing the wrong type of people to loiter at the cemetery.

    Considerations of the Property

The property should feel inviting, welcoming and comforting to anyone that lives, works or is on the property regularly.

    • View of the cemetery or burial ground
      • If the cemetery or burial ground are easily seen on the property, take steps to correct and block the view.
    • The landscaping
      • Just like the landscaping of the cemetery, well groomed landscaping will raise the Yang Chi to help counter balance the heavy Yin Chi from the surrounding cemetery.
    • The interior of the space
      • Does the interior of the space seem lively, inviting and comfortable? If not, below are some additional tips.

    Additional Feng Shui Tips

    1. Show respect for ghost and entities.

    • Always show respect, empathy and honor to any ghost, spirit or entity.  Not all are negative but all should be shown mutual respect instead of fear and misunderstanding.

    2. Revive the space.

    • Make any necessary repairs.  Paint and bring bright, cheerful colors into the space.

    3. Bring life and vitality into the space.
