9 Feng Shui Bedroom Tips

“Having a bedroom with poor Feng Shui can very quickly become one of the main contributing factors to how an illness develops.” ~Nancy Santo Pietro

Why 9 tips?

The number 9 is auspicious in Feng Shui practice because it represents completion.

In Black Sect Tantric Buddhism Feng Shui, the bedroom is the center of health, healing, and restoration. On average, we spend about a third of our lives sleeping so we should have a bedroom that supports sleep and rejuvenation. The following are 9 mundane tips for promoting good chi in a bedroom for yin activities.

1. Place your bed in the correct position, known as the command position.

  • When in-command position
    • The command position of the bed allows for the chi to flow into the room and towards the users of the bedroom.
    • The occupants should be able to have a clear view of the door without being directly in line with the door.
  • When out-of-command position
    • Notice the door swing direction in layout 1, this forces the chi to hit the wall instead of the bed.
    • The bed should not be in direct line with the door like layout 2 shows.
    • This can cause anxiety and poor sleep habits, same goes for layout 3.

2. The size of your bed should match where you want to be in life.

  • For a child, a twin bed is suitable.
  • An adult looking for a romantic partnership will want a larger bed to accommodate room for a partner.

    3. Have a sturdy headboard.

    • This represents a strong backbone to a relationship.

    4. Double up!

    • Especially for those in a partnership or seeking a partner, be sure that you have a pillow, nightstand and lamp for each side of the bed
    • Two of everything!

    5. No storage under the bed!

    • Clean, free flowing energy under and around the bed is ideal for healthy bedrooms.
    • If storage under the bed is not avoidable, be sure the items stored are soft items, such as extra linens, and well organized.

    6. Minimize stimulating or yang energy in the space.

    • Remove TVs, musical instruments, fish tanks, electronics, and bright night lights.
    • Avoid doing activities other than relaxing/sleeping in your bedroom.

    7. Declutter

    • Clutter can create stagnant, unhealthy energy in any space.
Having a bedroom free of clutter allows healing chi to flow through the environment freely, without getting stuck in cluttered areas.

    8. Color selection

    • It is valuable to choose colors you like for your bedroom but BTB Feng Shui suggests using pastel colors to help the space feel calm.
    • The color yellow symbolizes health in Feng Shui so this could also be used if a person is drawn to yellow.

    9. Take stock of the art in the bedroom.

    • Does it promote tranquility?
    • Is the art too stimulating for a healing space?

The bedroom can be a very supportive space that enhances your chi or energy for many areas of your life. For advice that is more specific to your individual needs, please contact Much Love Interiors for a Mini Feng Shui Consultation of your bedroom.
